Over Twenty years experience in Mechanical and Electrical Design and Engineering Services for Metro Systems for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority and Maryland Transit Administration - Baltimore Metro System.
  • WMATA Branch Route Storage and Inspection Yard Section F-11 (Sub to RK&K)

DEI, working as sub-consultants to Rummel, Klepper, and Kahl (RK&K), provided complete Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Design services for the Branch Avenue Storage and Inspection Yard Facilities. This project consisted of the following buildings and facilities: Operations/Maintenance Building, CMNT Shop, Car Wash, Traction Power Substation, Chemical/Equipment Building, Salt Dome, Fueling Facility, and Gate House, in addition to the Car Storage Yard. Services included HVAC, Fire Protection, Plumbing, Lighting, Power Distribution, Fire Alarm and Detection, Communications, and Intrusion Detection Systems for the entire project.

CMNT Building

  • MTA - Baltimore Metro System (Sub to Gannett Fleming) - Provided evaluation and assessment of ventilation of 38 mechanical rooms.
  • New York Avenue Metro Station - Design-Build project (Sub to Jacobs Engineering) - The New York Avenue Metro Station consisted of an above-ground passenger station with elevators, escalators, two entrances, high-voltage switchgear room, battery room, traction power substation, switch-board and user personnel facilities. As a Prime Engineering sub-consultant, DEI designed all the ventilation, cooling, plumbing and fire protection systems for this project.
  • WMATA Greenbelt Route Section E8 (Sub to RK&K) - Provided MEP for track, vent & fan shafts, pumping station & Traction Power Substation, underground trainway and Tie Breaker Station.
  • WMATA Branch Avenue F-9, Suitland Station and Parking Structure (Sub to RK&K)

The Suitland Station and Parking Structure consisted of an above-ground passenger station and a three-level pre-cast parking structure which was designed to accommodate two future parking levels. The station included spaces that serve as operations, communications, electric, switch-board, Traction Power substation, Cleaners, Maintenance, Train Control, and Area of Rescue Assistance (AORA) rooms, in addition to the Train Platform for boarding and deboarding the trains. DEI designed the complete Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing systems for this project.
